Obama and Ayers Relationship a “Myth”
In her zeal to get elected Vice President, Sarah Palin reportedly went “rogue” and made allegations during the campaign that Barack Obama was bosom buddies with a domestic terrorist, thus overtly implying that if he pals around with terrorists, Obama must be one too, especially with a middle name like Hussein. She supposedly never cleared that part of her speech with McCain before she made that public indictment on Obama’s character.
Well, why should she run it past McCain anyway (he was just running for the top job), as she said near the end of the campaign, she had nothing to lose. So she went rogue and did whatever she wanted to do because it was not “Country First,” it was Palin first. Unlike McCain, maybe she never understood that she was playing with fire – fanning the flames of divisiveness and hate, us against them and “real” Americans versus those who are purportedly un-American somehow (usually because we disagree). But what if she knew exactly what she was doing. I think she did and that is why I think she should never, ever hold any sort of public office at all.
A week after the election, William Ayres spoke on the subject. There was no ”palling” around with Barack Obama. They were acquaintances as best. That infamous coffee that he had for Obama in his home was only one of a number of stops in one day during a campaign. That fact, however, is not as interesting to Bible Spice because it would not have provoked the fear and contempt that she sought to promote against Obama. Smear by association. Palin is like the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland, pronouncing “sentence first, verdict afterwards.”
Ayers is who he is, but should candidates seeking the highest offices in this country try to get elected through appealing to the mob mentality? Is that worthy of the office they seek?Is that leadership? Shouldn’t we ask- no shouldn’t we demand – more of these candidates? Given the magnitude of the problems facing the country, and the world, right now, I just think that there should have been a much better dialogue between the candidates about their vision of where this country should be headed for the next ten years rather than this hateful mythical relationship that was simply a code for a racial epithet.
Railin’ Pailin is not smart, she is not even mature and she is certainly not articulate, but she is quite capable of inciting a whole lot of hate if given the opportunity. America, we just dodged a bullet.
