Girl Handing Out Cough Drops Accused of Selling Drugs
A 9 year old girl handed out Halls Vitamin C cough drops to some friends at school which prompted her teacher to accuse her of peddling “drugs.” The girl said two of her friends at school asked her for the cough drops, but the friends, she said, insisted on giving her a dollar in exchange for them.
“She saw me with the cough drops out and I guess she saw me give it to one of my friends, and then like, ‘Oh, I see this good business going on around you,’” Khalin said. “She said, ‘You’re selling drugs.’ (I said) ‘No I’m not.’”
The school has a policy that prescription and over the counter drugs must be kept in the original container, be label with the kid’s name, date, dosage frequency of administration and the physician’s name. The school is pondering whether the cough drops are a drug under the school policy. News4Jax of Jacksonville, Florida analyzed the cough drops, yes, believe that one or not, and they reported
After examining the ingredients in the drops Khalin had, Channel 4 reporter Diane Cho said the ingredients in the cough drops were near exactly the same as what’s in a Lifesafers candy.
Good work Cho! Get the people with the Emmys on the phone and send them the cough drop footage! The girl has not been punished, yet. She needs to meet with the principal and the teacher today. I’m sure there will be a Cho report on that one after a thorough analysis has been made.

Long gone are the days when you chewed a piece of gum and the teacher said “Janey, do you have enough of that for everyone? No? Then please spit it out.”
Seriously, tho’, maybe some kids’ parents can’t afford cough drops right now and they may have sore throats or a cough without any relief. Some nice kid at school shares some of hers. What kind of message is this sending to those kids?
Why is it people are so quick to judge (like this teacher) and not give people the benefit of the doubt?

You know, apparently it would have made a difference if menthol had been in them or not? Menthol?
I agree Skye. I thought it was nice of her to share.
