Poll Says 75% of Americans Want Door to Hit Bush on Way Out of White House

I know it’s shocking, but according to a new CNN poll, 75% of Americans are happy that the overly long, seemingly never ending reign of King George and his merry band of court jesters is coming to an end.  That 23% that will miss him are probably those posting death threats at TeamSarah.org and Fox News and now that Christmas is over they are also crying that they have to wait for another horrid year until they can wage their mythical battle known as they “war on Christmas.”

CNN senior political analyst Bill Schneider added, “As President Bush prepares to leave office, the American public has a parting thought: Good riddance. At least that’s the way three-quarters feel.”

Exactly!  How fitting for a man that came into office by judicial fiat and heard thousands of protesters exclaiming, “Hail to the Thief!” on inauguration day on January 20, 2000.  Remember?

Hail to the Thief

20,000 protesters were present in Washington and many, many thousands more protested all over the United States and in Paris and London.  In fact, it was the largest since Nixon was inaugurated after the infamous Watergate break-in.

A couple of protesters threw bottles before Bush’s limousine arrived, and one hurled an egg that landed near the new Cadillac, which featured puncture-proof tires and six-inch-thick bulletproof glass.

The President left the car to walk only after he reached a secure zone near the White House that held inauguration ticket-holders.

Georgie has since made a practice of living in his very own little bubble while he takes more vacations than any other President and essentially delegates his presidency to Dick Cheney.  This is why it was so fitting that on the night that Barack Obama was elected, thousands gathered at the White House in jubilation.  I can’t imagine how Bush must have felt, being the most despised person in the US at the time, and seeing what it is like for the first time to see people excited about a politician elected by the people for the people.  What a concept, well, for him anyway.

When running for the White House in the 2000 presidential campaign, Bush promised to be a uniter and not a divider. But 82 percent of poll respondents felt that Bush did not unite the country, compared with 17 percent who said he did.

“The vast majority of Americans believe he betrayed his promise to unite the country,” Schneider said. “He took a country that was divided under President Clinton and he divided it worse.”

Only 27 percent of those questioned in the poll approve of the way Bush is handling his job as president; 72 percent disapprove.

Remember him saying that he was a “uniter” and not a “divider.”  That didn’t really work out now did it George.  Time to say goodbye now and let the real president take over….
