Comment Policy
A Time for Change Comment Policy and Terms of Use
I really appreciate most of you who have taken the time to read my posts and leave your comments. While I may not agree with what you say, many good things come from the discussion of issues that are difficult and contentious. You never know when there will be common ground, or, at least a better understanding of who we are and why we believe in things in the way that we do.
A few of you have used the privilege of commenting to indulge in cyberstalking, mobbing, going way off topic, to advertise your blogs, and to rant about not much of anything or to harass (or all of the above). I realize that is a subjective determination, but this is my blog and you are my guest. Think of yourself as being in my home and how you would act if you were a guest in my home and I will do the same.
Please do not copy my posts in their entirety and give yourself credit for the post elsewhere on the internet. If you do want to use a post from A Time for Change, then you should post a portion and link back to the post here. If you don’t, you will run into a copyright problem. See the main page for copyright notice and Intellectual Property below.
Please do not use comments at this blog solely for the purpose of drawing traffic to your blog or solely to further some agenda whether it relates to the post or not. For example, inserting your URL in a comment that does not relate to the post. Another example would be advocating right to life in a post about Somali pirates. One has nothing to do with the other and if you make posts to further an agenda that is off topic, you may risk having them deleted.
If you have any questions, please e-mail me at catherineatchange@gmail.com.
Terms of Use
I want you to enjoy using A Time for Change. I also want you to obey the law while you’re here and not interfere unduly with anyone else’s right to enjoy it. By using A Time for Change at catherinemacivor.com you agree to be bound by these terms of use, as amended from time to time, as well as the terms and conditions of A Time for Change’s privacy policy, which is incorporated by reference herein.
Comments
A Time for Change allows you to post comments, provided that you first register to do so with a valid e-mail address. That means you cannot comment unless you have already registered. A Time for Change may allow as much or as little opportunity for registration as I choose, in my absolute discretion, and I may close particular comment threads or discontinue the general policy of allowing comments at any time. By registering to post comments, you warrant that you are at least 18 years old and that you are solely responsible for your account’s activity.
I reserve the right to delete your comments for any reason, particularly if you post something that is, in my good-faith opinion, (a) off-topic; (b) libelous, defamatory, abusive, harassing, threatening, profane, pornographic, offensive, false, misleading, or which otherwise violates or encourages others to violate these terms of use or any law, including intellectual property laws; or (c) “spam,” i.e., an attempt to advertise, solicit, or otherwise promote goods and services.
A Time for Change does not own your comments and expressly disclaims any and all liability that may result from them. By commenting on A Time for Change, you agree that you retain all ownership rights in what you post here and that you will relieve A Time for Change and Catherine MacIvor from any and all liability that may result from those postings. You further agree to grant A Time for Change and me a worldwide, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicenseable and transferable license to store, use, transmit, display, publish, reproduce, or otherwise distribute your comments without limitation, as well as to make such additional uses of them as may be needed by A Time for Change or any affiliated entity.
In short, you’re my guest here. I value your opinion and I am happy to provide you with a forum in which to express it, but if you abuse my hospitality or use A Time for Change to injure someone, don’t be surprised if I throw you out.
Trackbacks
A Time for Change allows third-party websites to send trackbacks to its posts, but I may, in my absolute discretion, disable this option for particular posts or discontinue the general policy of allowing trackbacks at any time.
I reserve the right to delete trackbacks for any reason. As with comments, I will usually delete trackbacks from posts that are, in my good-faith opinion, (a) off-topic; (b) libelous, defamatory, abusive, harassing, threatening, profane, pornographic, offensive, false, misleading, or which otherwise violate or encourage others to violate these terms of use or any law, including intellectual property laws; (c) “spam,” i.e., attempts to advertise, solicit, or otherwise promote goods and services. I will also usually delete trackbacks from posts that do not link or otherwise reference the post on A Time for Change (catherinemacivor.com) that they are tracking back to.

I’m sorry that I didn’t see this before I commented earlier. Please forgive my inclusion of my URL. I truly wanted your input. Although our styles are very different, we agree on many things. I intend to check your blog and if you approve link to it. I always link to sources and provide credit. I also refrain from excerpting substantive sections of someone’s work, I prefer to mention it with a link to let readers explore it on their own, if interest guides them.
Reply: No worries. I commented that your blog looks great. Feel free to link.

You asked in a comment on my blog “what are my sources”
At the time I gave a quick reply, but have received similar email enquiries, so I posted a more inclusive comment, which is reproduced below. Thank you for commenting on my blog. While I respectfully disagree with some of your articles, your blog is well written.
Backup for the Chicago Annenberg Challelenge CAC with William Ayres is the University of Illinois Library on the Chicago Campus. After Ayres and Obama spent the $110 million, and could not get more money because they failed to get any result, Ayres and Obama donated the corporate minute books to the library. You can call up the reference librarian and she will arrange for you to read them.
The directors’ minutes include entries like “Dr. Ayres proposed a motion to appoint Barack Obama to serve as president. The motion was duly seconded and passed by a unanimous vote of the Board.”
Spanning seven years, the minutes include motions for every giveaway and misappropriation of $110 million to community action groups, every one proposed by Obama. Most of the money went to groups affiliated with Acorn. Not a single penney was ever given to any school.
This and more is all contained in the seven years of corporate minutes of the CAC, available to the press and public, but according to the reference librarian, not more than six people had ever signed in at the reference desk to read them, and none of the mainstream media ever bothered to read them.
